I want to make a game plan. If you were in my position, what would you do next, financially?

GOALS: Help kids w college, don’t be a burden on kids if I get to live long, get some space to chill the F out in the meantime so I’m not crazy stressed all the time

Current salary: $144,000/yr

Living in Charlotte, NC

Assets

$160k in a 401k

Maybe $500k in home equity (owe $330k, home value around $850k)

$6k, $5k and $3k in savings accounts for kids

Debts

$131/mo car payment

$2200/mo mortgage (2.99%! This has kept me from moving so far)

I was able to get my inheritance in advance from my parents and use that to buy ex out of our marital home, so thankfully I have no big debt. But I also have basically no liquid savings.

Potential $

Ex is $20k in child support arrears and about to flee the country. (I really picked a winner.) I’m trying to get a lien on his house for the 20K at least.…
