I bought a house just under a year ago that was built in 1945 and was fully renovated in 2022/2023 some of which was not done well. We were told on inspection that the roof looked good and the attic was at a 30 r value (which we were told was fine.. guess what it’s not even up to code in Ontario Canada) but apparently it’s barely an r21 value and technically not up to code bc they put insulation batts then blown in fibre glass on top the insulation guy said it was barely 5-6 inches of insulation but we are now looking at increasing our insulation and have had a couple professionals say we need more ventilation and the roof has two layers of shingles? The issue is that the roof has no soffits or baffles. We only have gable vents and 4/5 roof vents one being very old.…
